Hyundai Motor Company delivered fifty new hybrid cars to the government
of South Korea for testing this month. The company hopes to have cars in
production for sale in Korea by 2007. Hyundai claims its Click hybrid gets about
50 percent greater fuel efficiency than the gasoline powered version.
Hyundai is also considering
hybrid versions of other models.
"The government well
understands the importance of eco-friendly cars to the global auto industry. We
are ready to provide full support for local carmakers developing such
alternative fuel cars," said Prime Minister Lee Hae-chan during the ceremony.
